Meet Kate

Meet the Maker…

Kate Shelton

Kate Shelton was born and raised in a big, loud family of seven children in rural Colorado. She grew seeking solitude in words, becoming an avid reader at an early age.

By high school, Kate was ready to experience the things she’d only tasted in books. She graduated from Otero Junior College with an Associate of Arts two weeks before her high school graduation and set off for a big life.

Kate attended Colorado State University where she earned a dual degree in history and sociology. Kate graduated from CSU after just two years and began her long journey in marketing, starting with an internship at Interweave Press.

In 2019, Kate earned her Masters of Creative Writing degree from the University of Denver, graduating near the top of her class.

She has spent her career in the marketing field; her years of experience and creative writing background fuel her work. Kate owns her own marketing company – KPS Writes – where she freelances in the wide landscape of digital marketing. She writes for magazines, manages social media feeds, blogs, and creates digital advertisements. Kate enjoys helping small, often female-owned, businesses meet their goals through online channels.

Kate began novel writing in 2020 and has taken several online writing and editing courses to improve her craft.

The Novel Killer is her debut manuscript.

Kate lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with her husband and their two children.
